Welcome to Pineapple and Pork! My name is Aileen and I'm a first generation Filipino-American who has always lived south of the Mason-Dixon line, mostly in the DC metro area. Filipino and Southern American cuisines speak to my soul and flow through my veins (in more ways than one!). I'm always amazed at how two different cultures from opposite sides of the world have more in common than you'd think (I suppose we have Spain to thank). The name of this blog comes from that very idea. Pineapples are a tropical fruit that grows abundantly in the Philippines and are also a traditional symbol of Southern hospitality. And pork, that glorious magical animal, is a mouthwatering centerpiece of both cuisines, especially if whole roasted into a shiny lacquered lechon.
Thanks for reading! Kain na (kah-een nah), y'all means let's eat :)
